Through the Fire: Gratitude, Hope, and Cocoa

My family was evacuated because of the biggest wildfire our town has ever experienced last July. I’m still evacuated and haven’t been able to go home yet, so I haven’t actually seen our town with my own eyes. But hearing that our town is still standing is amazing and truly a blessing.

I want to thank all the firefighters who risked their lives fighting the fire day and night, and all the volunteers who helped us at the evacuation centre. Everyone was so kind and supportive. I’m also deeply grateful to everyone who donated essential supplies. I really didn’t know what to expect, and the kindness we received meant so much to us.

It may sound selfish to say, but unless you experience something like this yourself, you really don’t know what it’s like.

This is Cocoa, enjoying the sunshine at my friend’s place, who graciously took us in. ❤️

Cocoa helped me get through this difficult time. He reminded me how precious it is to have each other, and how grateful we should be for the simple things we often take for granted.

I pray for this fire to be extinguished soon, and for peace, safety, and healing for everyone and all the pets affected. 🙏❤️
